I recently was researching what the expected traffic counts should be for a new blog, but I keep getting hits for ‘increasing your traffic’.

As a new blogger, I am curious as to what traffic numbers I should expect. I check my awstats and webalizer stats, and see my traffic numbers, but have no way of knowing if they are good traffic numbers.

Then, there is the issue of “unique visitors” and “visits”. Which one do you use? Of course, I would like to use “visits”, as the number is higher. And, how much weight do “hits” and “pages” hold?

Does anyone know the answer? If so, I would love to hear what your thoughts are. Also, is anyone else curious about this? All replies will be greatly appreciated.

    Hey Barbara,

I am sure that traffic counts for a new blog and as a budding blogger I agree with you that the higher number of the visits gives you a good feeling and also give you a encouragement that you are being read.
