When A Picture Speaks 1000 Words

Normally when I showcase an author for the New Blog Of The Week, I’ll share some of their written work.

Words can say so much about a blogger, their desires, their life, and their beliefs.

Today I’m doing something a little different.

These two bloggers have great blogs many of us have already found, but they also have another passion which is photography.

So, to showcase these two women, I’ll showcase some of their beautiful photographs (with their permission, of course).

In no particular order, the first blogger is Caroline of The Zen In You.

Her photography can be found at: No Wordz.

Here’s a sampling of her work.

The second blogger is Cricket, aka Tammy of A Cricket In A Garden and her photo blog is Standing Still

From her archives, a sampling:

As you visit these two photo blogs you’ll understand why I had such a difficult time choosing just three pictures. Their work is phenomenal.

Please join me in re-welcoming Tammy and Caroline to the Blogging Without A Blog community.

Welcome girls.

Enjoy your reign.

Your tiaras are in the mail. 🙂

  1. Gorgeous photos, I need to dig into both of those photo blogs. What a great idea Barbara. Any chance of a vlog themed NBOTW post someday?

  2. Barbara, I am so excited to be “a chosen one.” LOL. But seriously, I have such deep respect for you and your blog and I am honored that you have highlighted my blogs here. My photo blog brings me such peace and joy and I love sharing how I view the world. And The Zen In You blog is my baby. I have learned so much from your blog and credit my success from many of your lessons. Thank you again!

  4. Hi Barbara,

Oh wow, you couldn’t have chosen two more wonderful ladies to highlight here today!

Caroline – I have the utmost of respect for you, and for all that you write. I haven’t spent much time visiting your photo site, so I’m excited – here’s another way to get to know you a bit better! Caroline, you’re a very special person, and I’m blessed to be able to read your words and view your photos.

Tammy – Tammy, I’m not sure where to start. We go back a ways – and I want you to know that you’ve been a gift in my life. I feel that in so much of your writing, I can relate so well. It’s as if you’re writing just for me (and I’m sure your other readers feel that way too) – what a gift you have to share. And your photos always touch off an emotional response. You have been a light in my life…

  5. Hello Ladies – Simply GORGEOUS work! What beautiful eyes you have, the better for us to see the way you do. As an outsider in a family of talented photographers, I so appreciate the ability to see the “something” and zero in on it. This is a stunning gift. Thanks, Barbara, for the visual candy this morning.

  6. Thank you Barbara for introducing me on your site. When I decided to begin my photo blog I was not sure how many of my regular readers would follow me. I was actually amazed at the number of people that arrived with full support with such wonderful comments. I hit a “writing slump” on my blog (A Cricket in a Garden) and I knew that photography was something that was missing. I feel much more alive now that I have spent time behind the camera once again.

I was so happy to see you introduce Caroline. I have never been to her blog until today. She does beautiful work and I look forward to getting to know her in the future.

As always you share such a variety of people on your blog and this is why you have established such a huge “friend” following. You have a natural gift of making each and every person feel welcome on your corner of the world.

It is a honor for me to be displayed on the “New Blog of the Week” and I thank you.

  7. Sorry I’m a bit late for your blog’s gorgeous new look. Bravo!! And so wonderful to put a face to you, my blogging guru.

Thank you for a sumptious visual feast-fest here today! I’ve known Tammy for a while now — she has a beautiful spirit and outlook on life, in addition to being a truly talented photographer.

And glad to meet Caroline. That ballerina is just darling. And the roadscape – I would definitely hang a print of that in my house.

Very nice showcase of photo art Barbara. Pictures do say more than a 1000 words.

  9. How precious and sublimely elegant. All at once. Each one tells its own story, captured by two talented photographers.

I paint. And to find the story in a photo is my goal, whether vintage snapshot from an old album or one full of color and intimacy like these.

These gals have both found the stories through their lenses. I have already visited — and will go back to — Tammy. And now I’m headed over to meet Caroline…

Barbara — love the new look here! And it’s so nice to see YOU in the side panel. 🙂

  10. I was sitting in the airport yesterday when my little red button lit up on my cell phone. I had a message from Barbara that she wanted to highlight me today. I was elated but remained very composed so that I would not cause a scene at the airport. I would like to thank you again Barbara for this mention.

@Caroline- It was nice to meet you today. Barbara has this wonderful way of introducing bloggers and I feel very lucky to have shared this spot with you. You are very talented with your writing and photography.

@Miguel de Luis-I can always count on you to be cheering me on from the sidelines. You always have kind and positive words for me and I want you to know just how much that means to me. I know you enjoy the love of children and I believe we first connected on my first blog while I was sharing pictures and lessons learned from both Dylan and Mitchell. Thank you Miguel de Luis. I know I have found a friend of lifetime in you.

@Lance-Hey there Lance…yes we do go back a long time now. Even time passes quickly in this blog world just as it does in real life. Do you think the two might be connected? The same words apply to you as I said to Miguel de Luis above. We met through my first blog and we discovered we had children in common and the lessons in which they were teaching us. I am so fortunate to have crossed paths with you. You have seen my highs and lows and we have kept right on sailing. Your words mean a lot to me Lance. (I still think I could get some good shots of you in pink)

@Jannie Funster-Thank you Jannie Funster…it is people like you that have kept my “spirit and outlook on life” beautiful. We met somewhere along the line and began exchanging words about bra slinging (?) You have a sense of humor a lot like mine and I have always appreciated all of your kind words that you have expressed over viewing some of my pictures and words. Thank you Jannie.

@Barb Hartsook-We have just recently met. You came to my site and were kind enough to comment. We determined early on that you and I both like to paint and we share this common interest. It is so true that painting is much like photography in that for each one I do I strive to tell a story. You expressed the same in your comment above. Thank you Barb.

@Cath Lawson @Sterling Okru @Betsy Wuebker @J.D. Meir Thank you for your kind words. I look forward to viewing each of your blogs.

  17. Barbara,

As I love photography, I was excited by your selections this week. Both Caroline and Tammy are great photographers.

Tammy – While I loved all your photos, I thought Tiny Dancer was a work of art. The way you captured the mirror image and the simple use of color was magnificent.

Caroline — Your photos are so striking. I felt like I could step inside Morning in My Garden, but my favorite is I Understand Mom. I love black and white photos and this one is so touching with the child’s lashes so clearly outlined by the face.

I welcome both of you. You will both be in my reader very soon!

Hi Betsy – You’re welcome. “visual candy”, I like that.

Hi Tammy – You’re very welcome. And, thank you for your kind works. I love looking at great photos, and you and Caroline sure have an eye for finding the beauty in the simplest things.

Hi Jannie – Thank you. Blogging guru? Nah! And, you’re welcome. These two gals do great work, don’t they.

Hi J.D. – Yes, photos can say so much,

Hi Vered – These gals are as amazing as their photos.

Hi T – You’re welcome. I’m thinking “Journey Within” can be anywhere, USA.

Hi Journey Within – Haha. Caroline has a photo with the same name as your blog. 🙂

Hi Sara – Photography is a wonderful hobby, isn’t it? I love how by studying these photos we can learn from these two gals.

Hi Davina – Have fun checking out their archives. They’re filled with more great shots.

Hi Patricia – You’re welcome. Doing something a little different was a fun change.

  20. Thanks for posting. I love the first 2, especially the tiny dancer. Gone to check out the blog now…
