(Not So) NBOTWs – Oldies But Goodies

It’s Tuesday and time for the next edition of the New Blog of the Week (NBOTW) series.

I was a late bloomer when it came to receiving comments on my blog. Sure, I got a few that said “Hi”, “Great post”, but these three bloggers became a constant; always visiting, always commenting and always supporting my efforts. I would compare them to “Old Faithful”*, the geyser in Yellowstone National Park which is known for its punctuality and predictability. To this day these three remain loyal members of the BWAB community.

To show my gratitude, I’m showcasing them as this week’s (Not so) New Blog(s) of The Week.

They are:

Catherine of Cath Lawson.com. What I love about Catherine is her outspokenness. She sees no reason to mince words. She tells it like it is and for those in business or contemplating starting a business, she’s your “go to” girl. Her business and life advice is written with truth and honesty. Three of my favorite posts from her archives are:

“So What Is This Stupid Box In Your Head”
“20 Things I Wish I’d Known About Business And Life When I was 20”
27 Ways to Fuel Your Imagination And Come Up With Great Ideas

My second “oldie” is Natural of “Thinking Out Loud”. Although her name is Valerie, she signs in as Natural (Woman). Her comedic talents come through in her posts, always making me laugh out loud. Hers is a blog I always enjoy visiting. Great posts from her archives are;

Butt-to-Gutt Ratio Gone Wild
I Wish I Had Duck Feet
A Fish Out of Water, Literally

Last, but not least, is Hunter of Hunter Nuttall.com When Hunter started blogging, I wasn’t sure which direction he would go with his blog. His posts are what I’d call eclectic, but they are always a joy to read. Currently Hunter is in mini retirement, striving to become a problogger and just recently celebrated his one year anniversary of blogging. From his archives I’ve chosen:

Synchronicities: Just Coincidence, Or Signs From The Universe?
How I Attracted A Lamborghini Gallardo In Five Minutes
Steve Pavlina’s Secrets Of Truth, Love, And Power (an interview)

Many of your know Catherine, Natural and Hunter, but for those of you who don’t, I highly recommend their blogs. Their seniority in blogging is a testament to how by having patience, perseverance and determination, success in possible.

Join me in re-welcoming this week’s Not So New Blogs Of the Week.

Hello again Catherine, Natural and Hunter. I am humbled and honored to have you as part of my community, and to be a part of yours.

I am forever grateful for your loyalty.

  1. Hi, Barbara. Wow, your posts sure have fewer comments at 2:45 AM than they do in the evening! I have 297 unread posts in my reader, and I’m not sure what to do with them. Sometimes it’s hard to get around to all my favorites.

Catherine was probably something like the 3rd person to ever visit my blog, and we found each other right here on BWAB. And I remember when I found Natural here too. I guess we’re all graduates from the BWAB class of 2007!

Thanks for remembering me, even though I haven’t been commenting as consistently as I used to. I’m always here, even if you can’t see me!

  2. Hi Hunter – You’re welcome. I still remember “meeting you” on my other blog before you had a blog. I KNEW you had it in you to be a blogger, and here you are, celebrating your one year anniversary. Congratulations!

Graduates of the BWAB class of 2007. I like that. 🙂 We’ve all come a long way, haven’t we?

Hi Davina – Yes, all three blogs are fabulous. If you have a chance, dig through their archives and you’ll find dozens of gems.

  3. Hi Barbara. I was introduced to both Cath’s and Natural’s blogs right here on BWAB. They are two of my favourite bloggers. And, I found Hunter’s blog not too long ago. I really enjoyed his series on Introverts.

  4. Hi Barbara – Thank you. What a lovely surprise to wake up to in the morning.

And it’s nice to be included in the same posts as Hunter and Valerie, as I love their blogs too.

It’s weird because I was just thinking of all of you before I went to sleep, in relation to a couple of posts I’m writing.

That picture of Old Faithful is awesome by the way. And it has been high on my must visit list of places for many years, so it’s nice to be associated with it.

    Thanks again Barbara.

  5. Hi Barbara – As a lowly freshman, it is nice to be in the same room with upperclass(wo)men who are so accomplished. I had not read Natural’s blog, but it’s in my reader now after reading her post on not being able to drive at night. (Is that dating of me?) Cath is a great favorite, and it’s been exciting to see Hunter’s evolution, as well. Thanks for shining the spotlight so newer readers can become acquainted with great quality.

  8. Hi,
I think these are great examples of blogs that prove “personality matters” For example, I read Hunter’s blog not to find yet another personal development tips but because he is funny and have a way to lighten up my mood. (Hey, hope this doesn’t put him down — but really, I know pretty much all what most personal development bloggers have to say. Hope this doesn’t sound arrogant either.)

As the blogosphere saturate, I think the style of the blog matters even more.

When we get our blog conference planned and scheduled it will be fun to meet these folks in person.

I read Natural’s blog and have comment a few times a long the way. She has a lovely sense of humor with her comments and that is just a high point in my book.

  20. A friend just emailed me to ask why I didn’t say I loved Natural too and whether I though she WAS full of it.

No No No! I was reading so fast that I didn’t even notice Natural was on the list too. Of course I love her. And Natural, if you’re reading, and if you care (you probably don’t but after receiving the email I need to make sure), I love you too and no you’re not full of it but I’m sure you already know that. 🙂

  22. Sure Barbara, no pressure! LOL

Actually I’ve been meaning to get to my “blogs I subscribe to” posts…..now if I can only stop subscribing to blogs long enough to do it. 😉

Before you ask, lets just say these posts will be done in multiple parts. LOL
