My mother was 15 when she had me. She named me after Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy Onassis. She said she thought a lot of her. I have always thought that was sweet. My mom was so young and scared but thinking ahead. My name means may God protect. I think maybe my mother was looking out for me in the future. I know the meaning of my name which is Jacqueline. Funny thing about the origins of the name Barbara – back when I was a kid, other kids (henceforth known as “pathetic life forms who made themselves feel better by teasing shy people like me) found it was defined as “Barbarian” and never let me forget it. I much prefer the definition you uncovered instead! :)

We truly are defined by how we *choose* to be.
