376121027_2202c414ac.jpgIt’s Tuesday, and time to announce my “New Blog Of The Week”

In the past, I did not dedicate a full post to my new blogger, but today is different.

This blogger does not have a flashy blog.

In fact, if you were to land on her site, you might quickly click off, thinking you landed on a personal blog.

This blogger probably doesn’t worry much about keyword density, SEO or Google’s page rank.

But, she gets traffic, and she gets comments.

This blogger is a mom, with a husband, and three children.

What is special about this mom, is that she also gave birth to a beautiful daughter she named “Peanut , who was born with Down syndrome, and she has made it her mission to educate others about raising a child with special needs. Each week, she dedicates one day, to write a post about Down syndrome in an effort to educate others about this disability.

This blogger’s name is Deb.

For women, we have compassion for what she does on a daily basis. For men, it’s a great lesson to understand what wives/moms deal with when they are raising children, in addition to having a in-home business (Deb has a day care).

Although her blog is less than three months old, Deb has already made a huge contribution to cyberspace.

She is helping others.

She has learned the secret to having a successful blog.

Deb’s blog is Three Weddings

Join me in welcoming Deb to our community.

Welcome Deb! :D

This great choice was the result of a nomination by Catherine .

As bloggers, we often take time to study about SEO ( search engine optimization), Google’s page rank, and keywords, in order to get our posts ranking high in the SERPs (Search Engine Result Pages).

Today’s Lesson

Sometimes I try to use keywords in my posts, but often that technique goes by the wayside, as I get to writing, and keywords and SEO are the last thing on my mind. Even though I don’t always concentrate on those issues, my blog still gets found.

Researching how my visitors find my blog, is something I do on a regular basis.

I recently noticed some funny and/or unusual search strings used to find my posts. Read the following search terms, and you’ll know, these visitors were not looking for a blog about blogging.

Here are some examples:

“wife sues husband -chicago”

“how much money for alienation of affection”

“blogging about wife”

“alienation of affection rules”

“how to get your wife to give affection”

These search strings took them to m my post titled “Wife Sues Husband’s Blog For Alienation Of Affection”

“list of profanity words” took them to “Blog Loses Massive Traffic Due To Profanity”

“how to save the mountains” and “candy mountain”, result in visits to my OM blog.

When writing the above mentioned posts, SEO and/or keyword density were not foremost on my mind, however, keywords and keyword density, played a part in attracting new visitors to my blog. My hope is that those visitors who found my blog in an “unexpected way”, may end up being “regulars”.

Whether you are a new blogger, or one who has been at for some time, having your blog “get found” is essential. Researching, and using keyword and keyword density is a “must” for achieving the goal of larger traffic numbers.

Today’s Assignment

Have you ever had funny or odd search strings that brought visitors to your blog?

Should a blogger change the way they write in order to incorporate SEO techniques?

Do you use keywords, keyword density, or other SEO techniques?

Google’s page rank is an issue that eludes/frustrates most bloggers and webmasters. How it’s calculated, is treated like a “secret sauce” recipe. A few of the ingredients are known, but no one (except Google), knows all of the ingredients. Anyone who could get their hands on the “recipe”, could potentially become a multi-millionaire, overnight.

What if Google reformulated their “recipe, and added in your credit score.

Today’s Lesson

Let’s ponder this one.

Currently insurance companies, in some states, are calculating home owner and automobile premiums, based are individual credit scores. They may call it “insurance scores”, but whatever it’s called, a lower number can result in higher premiums.

This had been taken a step further by employers, who were using credit scores as a pre screening (new applicants) technique. This practice, however, has been tightened, and in some areas, abolished.

The insurance companies are checking to see if you are in debt, your credit history, and if you pay your bills on time.

Those with great credit scores are enjoying a drastic drop in their premiums, however, many others are paying substantially more.

The reasoning behind this, is: if you have poor credit, and/or are deep in debt, you may be “tempted” to file a fraudulent claim.

It is assumed, the higher your credit score, the more responsible you are. And, if you are responsible with your money, you will be more responsible in other areas of your life.

As much as there may be some truth to this reasoning, sometimes extenuating circumstances throw individuals into financial ruin, and their credit scores plummet.

Whether that is this is taken into consideration, I have found no reports that address the issue.

So, back to pondering…..

What if Google were to partially base your page rank on your credit score?

Could Google make the assumption that: A higher credit score means you are less apt to use black hat SEO techniques? Less apt to buy links? More responsible? More trustworthy? Not likely to click on your own ads, or hire someone to? Would they make the assumption that someone with a higher credit score is more apt to create more accurate content?

Today’s Assignment

What do you think?

Would using a credit score air in creating a fairer page rank system?

Would you want Google to have that much information on you? (they probably do already)

Would we see a better caliper of blogs/websites ranking higher in the search engines, if this technique were to be implemented?

If you had a higher credit score, should you also be illegible for higher paying ads?

Do you know your credit score? if not, you should.
