Writers’ Blogk Bios

Thank you all for the support and terrific responses to Writers’ Blogk.

As I work behind the scenes getting the site ready, for those who are participating, I’d like to ask you to get ready for your part, as well.

Today’s Assignment

When you provide a guest post to Writers’ Blogk, I’ll be adding your bio at the end of your post(s). What I need from you is a short write up which will promote you, your writing talent and/or your blog.

Here’s a sample of what the bio will probably look like (still a work in progress).

click on image to see full size

When you provide me with your first guest post, that’s when I’ll also need your bio.

Please note, your avatar will be part of your bio, plus it will added to the list of contributors in the sidebar of the Writers’ Blogk site. If you do not have an avatar, I’d suggest getting one as it is part of your online branding.

Keep in mind, it is not necessary to have your photo in your avatar. Choose an image which best represents who you are, whether it be an anime, a pet, a flower, landscape, logo, or….

For your bio, it needs to be concise. I’d like it see them UNDER 50 words, so make each word count. You’re allowed to have ONE link in your bio. Use it to link to your best work, whether that be your blog’s home page, a specific post, your “About” page or….

Have fun with it. Show others your personality.

Due to a heavy work load and family commitments, my appearances online will be limited over the next week.

Please feel free to discuss this post amongst yourselves in the comment section.

Until then, Happy Blogging!

~Barbara

  2. Some good food for thought to get started on. Thanks to lots of experience on Twitter and Facebook, keeping a bio down to 50 words will be doable. Wishing you some pleasant family breaks in between your heavy workload, Barbara. Cheers.

  4. Barbara, what a lovely design your blog has. Pleasing to the eye and I enjoyed exploring it. Looking forward to some of your articles and guest posts.

    Enjoy your family time.

    1. Thank you Sia,

It’s good to see you here. Hopefully we’ll be seeing more of each other in blogosphere, and maybe I can even convince you to share a guest post or two on “Writers’ Blogk”. πŸ™‚

  5. Barbara, Thanks to Lance, I am here. What a BLOG! Did it take forever? The main reason I wanted to comment is to tell you how much I respect that you have obviously been so helpful to newbies. It’s one thing to have done the work yourself, but the fact that you reached out and have been so giving is music to my ears. Bravo. And if you made that pie on Lance’s post about you, I have to ask…can one woman really contain so much talent?

Obviously you can and I think the power behind it is Love. I’m grateful to hear about, find and follow people like you. – Amy.

    1. Thank you Amy,

It’s great to meet you, too.

This blog was born in 2007 and grew one post at a time, so even though it looks massive, it was a natural and fun progression.

Yes. I do love to reach out to other bloggers, new and old. I still remember those early days when I felt no one was listening and for that reason have empathy for others in the same position. I feel we all have something important to share and if I can somehow bring attention to others, I try.

No. I didn’t make the pie on Lance’s blog, but I do love to bake. Pies? I usually make during the holidays. πŸ™‚

  6. Thanks for the info, I’m still working on my blogging skills so it’ll be awhile until I feel comfortable guest blog posting for someone.. hope you enjoy your break and weekend

    1. You’re welcome Henway,

When you feel comfortable sharing your writings in the form of a guest post on Writers’ Blogk, you know where to find me. In the meantime, Happy Blogging!

    1. Hi Julie,

I’ll be letting you all know how the guest posts and bios will be “received”. I’m still researching the best method to use to let blog authors access “Writers’ Blogk”. If it looks like you’ve missed the instructions (when I post them), I’ll shoot you an email.

As long as the guest posts are fiction, poetry or are on a topic which will help fellow writers with their writing, I’ll be okay with it.

  8. That’s a win-win proposition Barbara. Good luck with the new domain and content, can’t wait to see it in action. By the way, very creative domain name indeed πŸ™‚

    1. Thank you Ajith,

I agree. It is a win-win for everyone involved. And if it goes as planned, hopefully the writers who frequent the site will get more attention as well as possible job opportunities.

If you have any connections, please send them my way.

  9. Barbara,

When I used to publish self growth articles at places like Ezine Articles, I had to learn how to write a short bio. It wasn’t easy for me, as you can imagine:~)

I’m not sure about posting articles yet, but it will be fun to watch this new site grow and thrive, like so many of the things you planted in the blogosphere. I am also sure there are lots of writers who are very happy that you did not let the Writers BlogK fade into the sunset!!!!

It also sounds like you are very busy right now. It feels a bit like stress, but then maybe I’m reading more into your words than I should. Whatever the situation is, I hope you take good care of yourself because you are important to me:~)

    1. Thank you for your concern Sara,

Yes. My full plate was turning into stress, so the time off was just what I needed.

*smiles* I’m happy to hear Ezine helped to teach you how to write a short bio. I agree. It’s not always easy.

As for you contributing to Writers’ Blogk. I’d love to see one (or more) of your picture posts where you inspire readers to dig deeper into the meaning of a photo. I think it’s a great left brain/right brain exercise. What do you think?

  10. Ever heard of WishList Member? It is a premium software made for WordPress. We know heaps of people who use it successfully for stuff all sorts of stuff. (I am doing a paid workshop now which is powered by WordPress and WishList)

Don’t take more than you can handle! Too many creative people burn out these days…

  11. Hi Thinsmek,

I haven’t heard of Wish List, but will definitely check it out.

I hear you. Taking on too much can burn us out. All the more reason to take breaks every now and then. πŸ™‚
