I’m bending the rules for this New Blog Of the Week (NBOTW). The blog is over four months old.
It’s the subject matter of this blog that brought me to this decision.
She writes in a niche I haven’t seen before. It’s not about productivity, or inspiration, nor is it about business or becoming more creative.
It’s not about making money online, nor is it a mommy (or daddy) blog.
She blogs about dogs. a subject that is near and dear to my (and hubby’s) heart….remember the story of how we rescued Lucky?
The information she shares in helpful and well researched. She writes about shedding dogs, and dogs that get sores. Not only does she write about these subjects, she shares help for dog owners.
From her you can learn how to calm yourself and your dog. She shares how giving a dog a head massage has an added benefit. She writes:
A soothing massage may be just what your dog needs—to be lovingly handled and stroked by his/her favorite human. While giving your dog a massage, your own sense of well being and relaxation can surface as well.
To quote her post, Socializing Your Puppy For Health and Happiness….
A puppy should have its full set of vaccinations before being socialized–that is usually completed by around 16 weeks of age.
This blogger and I call ourselves “cousins”. We’re not sure if we are, but we both share the same last name.
Her name is Kaye Swafford, and her blog is “Happy Dogs Make Happy Humans”
By reading her “About” page, you’ll read about her loyalty to animals. To quote her and her “best friend” Krystal:
Krystal and I are committed to donating 5% of our income from HappyDoggies.com to environmental and animal welfare organizations throughout the world. When you read this blog, you will often find notices of volunteer opportunities and fundraising programs.
Drop by and say hello to Kaye (and Krystal), and join me in congratulating her on the NBOTW title.
Hello again, Cousin Kaye.

Welcome Kaye…I stopped by to check out your blog, even though I don’t have a dog. I like dogs, just not walking them. I usually watch the dog show if I catch it on. Hello Krystal!
Naturals last blog post..But I Can’t Feel Anything – Does Using Plastic Desensitize the Act of Spending Money
Barbara,
Owning a dog is an aspiration of mine. It is not a responsibility I take lightly.
My daughter wants a dog or cat. But the indecision isn;t right. It must be shared responsibility and everyone in the family must commit.
My daughter is only 6, so it may seem as though I;m being extreme!
But talking about the responsibility and us al jointly earning the right to be able to look after a dog is very important.
So bending the rules is good for the introduction!
Not for commiting to a pet. Too many frivolously commit to it without thinking.
My childhood dog was part of the family and had a life.
With myself and my partner working full-time in a business which currently demands our focus, the time is not absolutely right.
But there is light at the end of the tunnel. And I don’t care what people think, owning a dog is a litmus test of our success in achieving a good work/life balance.
We are aiming for January 2009 as a target.
Ever heard of anyone who has pet ownership in their business plan?

Hi Natural,
Thanks for checking out Kaye’s blog.
Hi Ian,
That’s smart of you to take dog ownership seriously. They do become a part of our families, and need to be considered in all aspects of our lives.
A pet as part of a business plan? Maybe not a bad idea 🙂
Hi Kaye!
My husband and I have a Golden and a Lab. We are big Huge Dog Lovers! I am also a cat lover but I am asthmatically allergic so we don’t own them any more. 🙁
I’m on my way to check out your blog!
Congrats on being the blog of the week!
