It's hard for people to get used to wordpress or every other platform, before you choose to learn about it, first make sure it fits your needs. Many people try to convert wordpress to a CMS - something which it is clearly NOT. And when you do decide to go along wordpress for your website/blog, learn about it before you even start using it. Maybe through the learning curve you will suddenly decide it's too complicated to run a blog and you'll turn your back on the crazy idea - as many other people do.
