394009792 8092fce592 199x300 NBOTW Her Spirit Will Move You

I love it when I find a blog author who can tell a beautiful story that contains an important message. This weeks New Blog Of The Week (NBOTW) author does just that.

When I read her first post, I knew she was a writer, who blogs. Here’s an example from “The Eye Of The Storm”:

It’s the space between the moments of life that soothe and nurture the spirit. But to experience the spaces, you have to live the moments. Then and only then will silence be golden, and will you have found the true Eye of the Storm.

In her post Swinging Full Circle – That’s Life she writes about the circles of life. To quote her, she says,

It has made me realize how powerful and unchanging love can be throughout the years. Through living and through dying. Once you are in the circle it holds you there. You are the circle. And you can’t be lost because in a circle all things return to where they began.

In “Are You Afraid Of The Dark” she starts the post with a beautiful story named, “Two Wolves – A Cherokee Legend.” The story ends with a thought provoking line that’s well worth contemplating.

She then goes on to say:

Fighting a dark thought will feed it. Noticing a dark thought doesn’t feed it. In fact, by taking the time to see it and perhaps shed some light on it, an understanding can be reached.

With a schedule of once a week posting, I’m always anxiously waiting to read her latest writings.

Her blog is Loving Pulse. Her tag line reads, “I trust and allow the loving pulse of my spirit to connect me with the wisdom of life’s mysteries.”, and she is Davina.

Please join me in re-welcoming Davina to the BWAB community.

Welcome again, Davina!

1586083940 3b05cff494 Blogging Filling A Void In Our Lives

It’s often written, when we get married we’ll walk into the sunset and live happily ever after.

That is far from the truth. Even in marriage, a partner cannot fulfill our every need. Guys still want time with the “boys” and women savor friendships with their soul sisters. By cultivating other relationships and pursuing our own goals, we grow as individuals. Respect, admiration and love often builds between the partners as a result.

Today’s Lesson

Having read all of the responses to the question, “What would you do if you weren’t blogging” (from Friday’s post), the answers revealed we may be blogging to fill a void in our lives.

Here’s what was written and by whom.

If I wasn’t blogging, I would be…….

Working on other writing, music or artistic projects : J.D. Meier, Chase March,Space Age Sage, tumblemoose,Jennifer, Writer Dad, Ari Koinuma, Cath Lawson, Blogger Dad

Engaging in or learning more about photography: Scott McIntyre, Ulla Henning,, Dr. Cason

Sleeping: Lance, Vered, Linda Abbit

Slowing down: Mark Salinas

Exercising and/or spending more time outdoors: Betsy, Eric,

Reading: Natural, Vintage Mommy, Patricia, Leanne Magraith

Watching TV : Stacey, Amy Derby

Working on projects around the house: Urban Panther, Annie Anderson

Sailing: Linda,

Flipping houses: John Hoff,

Cooking: Avani, Davina

Traveling: Mike Goad,

Spending more time with family: Chris,

Playing video games: Kim Woodbridge,

Working on crafts: Evelyn Lim,

Studying: Lucas

Spending time on the computer: Ajith Edassery,

Marketing a business: Tom Volkar

Other: Pink Ink

The answers got me thinking.

Why do we give up things like sleep, time with our families, and/or other passions in our life, to blog?

Apparently blogging is giving us “something” these other activities or people in our lives, don’t.

To answer my own question, I realize although blogging is allowing me to teach and share that which I’ve learned (and continue to learn), what I’m gaining from it, is much deeper.

Blogging gives me a voice in the form of an uninterrupted conversation with others without being rushed. In the process, it feeds my ego as well as my desire to learn. Blogging allows me build something that is totally “mine”, connects me to like minded people, builds friendships, and gives me an excuse to neglect and/or ignore tedious chores.

In many ways, blogging has made me a more well rounded person.

Today’s Assignment

What is blogging “giving you”, you’re not getting in your everyday life?

Feel free to join in the conversation and let your voice be heard.

bwab signature Priorities Signatures Open Mic Happy Friday!

I hope you all had a good week and have something fun planned for the weekend.

To recap the week:

1) Monday we discussed how blogs get blacklisted or boycotted

2) Avani was introducted as the New Blog Of The Week

3) Wednesday we learned how spammers are getting more creative with their messages

Yesterday for my “day off” post, I included a “signature”. It’s not my real signature, but one I found on My Live Signature.com, thanks to Annie Anderson. For anyone who has been reading Lorelle On WordPress, she’s been using a signature for some time now, and wrote about it in a blog post titled, “Adding A Signature To Personalize Your Blog Post”

The process for acquiring a signature is easy. Just follow the simple steps on the My Live Signature website. While on the site, check out their other options, as well.

My Friday question for all of you is:

1) If you weren’t blogging, what would you be doing?

My answer: When I took yesterday off from blogging, in between working on my paying job, I painted. Not on a canvas, but on our house. We recently had the siding painted and the trim needed to be done as well, so I’ve been working on that. It’s been great to be outside doing something I enjoy.

The floor is yours. You know the rules.

Questions, comments and concerns are welcome.

Have Fun!

Keep it Clean!

And don’t forget to either check the “subscribe to comments on this post” box, or subscribe to my comments RSS feed (upper right sidebar), so you can follow along.

Happy Blogging!

2086100027 504c359188 o In The Blog House

Have you ever felt like this?

This photo is a perfect representation of me and my life at this moment. I’ve got too much on my plate and not enough hours in the day.

For that reason, there’ll be no lesson or assignment for today.

Feel free to dig through the archives, or better yet, check out the blogs of those who regularly comment here on Blogging Without A Blog.

I’ll be back on Friday with Open Mic where you can leave your blogging questions and concerns. Plus, I’ll have a question or two for all of you.

See you then.

311134263 e4dc9f1727 How Can You Tell If They Are Real

Don’t you love getting comments on your blog? I know I do.

Unfortunately when I last checked, my spam comments outnumbered my real comments by almost three to one (Akismet has caught 14,628 spam comments thus far)

Today’s Lesson

When I first started blogging, I would have welcomed some of these comments.

Here’s a sampling of what Akismet recently caught. They actually sound promising, don’t they?

Thanks for allowing me to comment. I normally don\’t leave them, but I really like what you had to say. This is important stuff!

I didnt find the subscribe button….where can i subscribe? :) :)

You have excellent analysis. thanks for writting

I\’m pleased that i found this blog today, its a wonderful resource and i will make sure to show to my wife when i get home !

The site’s very professional! Keep up the good work!

Regards to administration of bloggingwithoutablog.com – you made a excellent site in the Internet!
I was able made only several pages of blog
I hope this it is the best topic for my post. If there is no forgive for disturbance please.
several pages of my small blog :

This commenter went on to share links to their X rated posts. No thanks!

Some spammy sites are misleading. I recently had one that was a one page blog. At the bottom of the post was a sentence that said something like, “For serious marketers, click here for additional information”. It was a link to a full page ad. THAT was the extent of the site.

If a comment adds value to a post, I will often approve it even though it links to an “advertising” site. For those, it’s on a case by case basis.

When editing comments, remember, it’s YOUR blog, it’s YOUR call. Delete those you don’t want to be affiliated with.

Today’s Assignment

How are you handling comments that link to advertising or spammy looking sites?

Have you noticed how spammers are getting more creative?
